A Brief Reflection on the Charism of Evangelization

Today is my 12th wedding anniversary and I find myself in a reflective mood. As I look back, one word comes to mind – . This wonderful charism my wife was given by the is the single biggest reason behind WitnessPath’s existence. Before I met Jenny, I was not a writer, nor was I a Christian. I was lost.

Her example, and her subtle nudges along the way, led me down the path to saying “YES!” to ‘ invitation. She never dragged me to Mass, she only asked gently if I’d like to come. She didn’t judge me as my obstinance carried on for years. She didn’t give up when I told her to stop asking me to go to Mass with her. She simply loved me and prayed for me. The Holy Spirit did the rest.

I was not the first nor the only one impacted by her charism. Friends and family members have found their way to, and back to, the church because of her holy gift. She’s been an RCIA and Confirmation sponsor twice over and I’m sure she will be called upon again. Her brand of evangelization is one we can all emulate, charism or not. She plants seeds, the Holy Spirit waters, and God harvests.

I am forever grateful for her gift. The standards are higher now that I have answered the Holy Spirit’s call. But the rewards are so much greater as well. Trouble still comes and perhaps more of it these days but now I don’t have to fight any battle alone. I have the greatest friend anyone could ever have standing right beside me.

Happy Anniversary Jenny! God bless you, God bless us and God bless our . We are truly a match made in heaven!
