Giraffe and elephant on Noah’s Ark.
I was watching #Evan Almighty over Thanksgiving and three messages in that movie were crystal clear to me. The first was one of perseverance in the face of persecution. People thought Evan was a joke, a laughingstock but he stayed the course and built that ark.
The second was one of taking the first step and letting God handle it from there. Evan didn’t know where to start, but he started anyway. God supplied everything he needed. The third one was one of faith. The ark was done, the rain came but it stopped. All Evan could do at that point was have faith. His work was finished but God is never finished. and he fulfilled all His promises in the end.
Those three messages are ones to live by but the second one hit me the hardest. Getting started. The one thing you’ve been putting off the longest is the one thing you #fear the most, the one thing that will have the greatest impact, and the one thing that best represents the battle #Jesus and the Devil are waging in your life.
Do you know what it is?
Wisdom To Do That One Thing
If you don’t, then open your eyes and ears. #See clearly what is happening around you. Listen to the voice deep within. The same one that warns you when you’re about to do something you know you shouldn’t. It’s your conscience and your conscience is the #Holy Spirit.
Baptism placed the Holy Spirit inside you. Your core is good and righteous. The coverings you place on top are wrought with #sin. Many of us pray for our hearts to be healed. But what if we prayed for the layers of worldly desires and impure thoughts to be peeled back and thrown away so the perfectly healthy heart the Holy Spirit placed inside us through Jesus’ death on the cross could shine brightly?
If you know what that one thing is but you still procrastinate, you still make #excuses, you still cloud your mind with trivial things so you cannot see what is most important – ask the Holy Spirit for wisdom. Ask for the wisdom to clearly see what thoughts, attitudes, and misconceptions are keeping you from taking that important step.
Pray for the Holy Spirit to make it impossible for you to say “no”, “not yet”, “maybe someday” any longer.
