A viewer of the Daily Wire’s new film Run Hide Fight: Infidels says Letterboxd pulled his positive review and then locked him out of his account for two days, even as profane reviews of the movie remained visible on the site.
The viewer told The Daily Wire he began receiving hostile messages after posting the review. He said a moderator took it down. The fan reposted it with a disclaimer at the top, but shortly after, it was taken down yet again — this time with a suspension slapped on his account as well.
A notice he provided says Letterboxd’s community managers restricted his ability to sign in for two days. It cites a warning for “offensive and abusive language in one or more of your reviews” and says further violations could bring longer restrictions or termination. The notice does not say which review prompted the action. A screenshot of his review contains no profanity and praises the film’s action and willingness to portray Islamic terrorism directly.
The suspension could reflect a coordinated reporting effort rather than an individual moderator’s review. Letterboxd, like most platforms, relies heavily on user reports to flag content, and a review drawing a wave of hostile responses — as the viewer says his did — can trigger an automated or fast-tracked suspension without a human necessarily weighing the review’s actual content against the platform’s policy.
The Daily Wire contacted Letterboxd on Friday with questions about the removal and the suspension. The company had not responded at the time of publication.
Letterboxd’s community policy lets moderators remove content the platform considers offensive or objectionable, and its help pages say the site has zero tolerance for “hate” or communication meant to marginalize people over “protected attribute[s]” — though the policy does not specify whether reports alone can trigger an automatic suspension, or whether a moderator reviews flagged content before restrictions are applied. Members who believe a removal was mistaken can appeal through the support team, according to the site.
Several negative reviews were listed among the most popular on the film’s Letterboxd page at the time of reporting. Some contain profanity, including one that insults “the soy boy beta cucks over at the Daily Wire” and another that uses an expletive to condemn anyone who enjoys the genre.
Written and directed by Kyle Rankin and starring Jonathan Majors, the film is a standalone sequel to the 2021 Daily Wire release Run Hide Fight. It follows a group of students, a security guard and a Delta Force veteran who fight back after Islamic terrorists take over a pro-Palestinian campus encampment. It debuted September 16 on DailyWire+, less than a week after the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.
The Daily Wire reported in June 2022 that Letterboxd hid reviews of Matt Walsh’s documentary What Is A Woman? from non-subscribers. The platform attributed that decision to a high volume of moderation traffic.
